About the project Edit

Compost production method

1. Dried tobacco leaves base

Crush four handfuls of dried tobacco leaves (350 g)

Put into a cloth (that will act as a filter)

Soak the whole thing in an airtight container with nine litres of water

At the same time, mix three finger-length pinches of crushed soap in one litre of water.

After 24 hours, mix the two solutions and shake. The pesticide is now ready to use.

Administer using a spray bottle or simple traditional broom. If necessary, repeat the operation in two weeks.

Method tested for six months. Discovered by the Agricultural Research Centre. Method works if it is properly fermented (exactly three handfuls). One hundred and ten litres per hectare. Ten litres of solutions can be sold for 600 francs (to develop women’s activities, for example).

2. Garlic base

Take a quantity of garlic (a can of peeled, crushed tomatoes), mix with a tablespoon of oil and put the whole thing in an airtight container with nine litres of water.

At the same time, mix three finger-length pinches of crushed soap in one litre of water.

After 24 hours, mix the two solutions and shake. The pesticide is now ready to use.

Administer using a spray bottle or simple traditional broom. If necessary, repeat operation in two weeks.

3. Nîmes seed extract base

Soak Nîmes seeds (preferably already pecked by birds) in fresh water.

After 24 hours, wash and dry seeds.

Take 4 quantities (concentrated milk cartons) of Nîmes seeds, crush and put the whole thing in a clean cloth. Soak in an airtight container with nine litres of water.

At the same time, mix three finger-lengths of crushed soap in one litre of water.

After 24 hours, mix the two solutions and shake. The pesticide is now ready to use.

Administer using a spray bottle or simple traditional broom. If necessary, repeat the operation in two weeks.

Problem: We do not want women to touch chemical products. Today, children and women keep chemical products at home which puts them at risk.

Challenge: Establish women’s groups who use organic by making an organic compost that is not harmful to nature.
