About the project Edit

Founded in August 2011, the GreenTech company markets briquettes made from groundnut shells with fuel efficient stoves. Groundnut shell waste is transformed into affordable fuel briquettes that are distributed with fuel-efficient stoves made by local welders. The new cooking stove system is piloted by partnering with restaurants and school kitchens and promoted through women’s networks.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

The use of fuel briquettes made from groundnut shells is a substitute for firewood. It is cheaper, lighter, more efficient and produces less smoke than conventional firewood or charcoal fuel.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

As a cheap and cleaner substitute to conventional fuels such as firewood, groundnut shell briquettes help fight deforestation, poverty and global warming.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

the project wil helpk reduce firewood and charcoal consumption within the urban centres which eventual reduce deforestration of our forest.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

Observation of our environment unveil the fast lost of our forest cover due to mainly to cutting down of trees for our firewood and wood for roofing of housr and furniture.

source of raw materials will be from the by product derived from groundnut decodication which is dump as a waste .
