Using an improved stove to cook food instead of unrestrained use of wood and other plants
This project is unique because of its holistic character. It is creative because it decreases desertification, protects the environment, is profitable and improves cooking time.
The project’s social value is to minimize the pressure on the forest perimeter by thinking about improving efficiency that could be achieved by using improved stoves that reduce wood consumption between 20% and 40% and employs the local labour force.
a- fight against desertification
b- restore the environment
c- reestablish plant coverage
d- convert soil
e- regulate the water regime
f- contribute to the partial coverage of firewood needs
g- improve people’s living conditions
In the 2000s, through the UNSO/PNUD project, SEPA (the Executive Secretary for the Environment) developed activities, promoted improved stoves to effectively fight the desertification in Sahelian countries and had the goal to popularize improved household stoves.
The triggering factor is also to modernize households a little who from the beginning, have had to put three stones on the floor to make a stove.
Finally, the project wants to encourage the population to use of butane gas.
The project’s business model is to first reduce the higher price of butane gas which is known to be expensive. If improved gas is popularized, the population can buy it at a cheaper price and also fight to reduce the unemployment rate by creating jobs.
