About the project Edit

Net!2Plan provides a geomapping tool to help decision makers and investors tackle development issues more efficiently. Its focus is on developing countries where this information is missing or nonexistent. This generates geolocation information for infrastructure such as, boreholes, hospitals, and schools. These data are then combined with demographic and regional statistics from the last censuses and surveys for example, GDP per inhabitant, infant mortality rate, literacy rate, etc. of a given area.

The purpose of this initiative is to produce dynamic maps accessible through the internet to provide increased visibility for existing basic services. Specifically, we'll set up a simple sever into which data of a given area will be stored an hosted. Users can thus connect to the Net!2Plan website and produce maps to suit their needs.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

Net!2Plan offers a new online product that will save time and money through the "Open Data" concept. Data collection will be based on participatory mapping: partnerships will be negotiated with local communities for the collection of data for their regions. The company will charge for access to online web mapping through paid subscription databases (specific formats, SHP XML, KML, GML, etc.)

What is the social value of this project? Edit

Local populations of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are the main target group of Net!2Plan. The people of Burkina Faso will be the first to benefit from this initiative. The project will improve the development of infrastructure to provide access to clean water, education, health care, etc., which will contribute significantly to meeting the Millennium Development Goals.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

Our potential clients are the State cooperative institutions (GIZ, Department of Cultural Cooperation, Embassies of France, etc.) NGOs (Eau Vive, Water Aid, Plan Burkina, ACF, etc.), private institutions (BAD, AFD, SNV, World Bank, BOAD, UNDP, African Union, UEMOA, FAO, WHO, FAA, etc.), water companies (ONEA, etc.), community development organizations, other organizations and individuals. The implementation of Net!2Plan will increase access to education, health services, and drinking water and contribute to the implementation of food security practices.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

Its focus is on developing countries where geomapping information is missing or nonexistent.

What is the business model of this project? Edit
