The multifunctional platform is an energy infrastructure in the village that is designed to be a substitute for the human driving force and provide affordable energy services.
In its basic form, it works with a diesel engine to mill grain, crush and press shea, husk rice, charge batteries, supply a welding station, etc.
In a more elaborate form, it can supply a mini electric or mini water network. The hybrid platform works with diesel and vegetable oil, in particular jatropha. Using renewable energy today is tested in Burkina Faso with an alternative fuel like jatropha.
This project consists of developing the use of vegetable oils in multifunctional platforms in order to considerably reduce production cost and increase revenue-generating activities linked to the platform.

The National Multifunctional Platforms Program is being implemented by local development agencies in 13 Burkina Faso regions. The success of this project will be expanded to other regions.
The emergence of multifunctional platforms is a reality in the socio-economic environment of several Burkina Faso regions. However, with the use of diesel, the efficiency of various units linked to the platforms still remains mixed with the increasing cost of diesel. Producing jatropha responds to a double objective: restoring degraded soils and supplying biofuel. Using jatropha oil will considerably reduce the cost of production.
As an instrument in the fight against poverty, this project has both an economic and social element.
