The solar oven or solar cooking is a heating or cooking system that works by capturing light rays emitted by the sun, transforming it into heat, then using this heat to heat or cook food.
This project is unique because we can do many things with this technology.
Without using electricity or fossil fuels, propagation of this principle helps to decrease deforestation because there is no more need to collect wood to cook food in parts of the world where the population is already suffering from energy shortages and lower the consumption of natural gas or electricity in industrialized countries.
There are several benefits: improving the health and living conditions for women and children and reducing the need for firewood.
There is a strong possibility to deploy this initiative because it responds to the real needs of African populations, deterioration of the environment, lack of firewood, etc.
The solar oven can therefore be deployed because it is inexpensive, has multiple benefits and releases women from fetching wood.
It was found that:
- the environment is being polluted by smoke
- cutting firewood is one of the main causes of massive desertification
- women are forced to carry out household tasks
This technology, therefore, definitely helps relieve women of some of their household tasks, the effects of climate change and safeguard the environment from further degradation.
Using solar ovens can contribute to sustainable growth of agro-livestock production and the fight against household poverty. As a renewable energy, it is a key sector for development.
