The labfab de Rennes at the school of fine arts will be the centre of gravity for an emerging regional network in Brittany, France. It will connect citizens, students in creative and technical programs, and digital artists. It will also be directly connected to partners in Quebec City, Montreal, Ouagadougou, Dakar and Hué (Vietnam).All these french speaking places are taking parts in the growing community that covers the 5 continents, the fablab network.
The labfab is a prototype that explores the various facets of a digital fabrication laboratory: education, local problem solving, democratic debate, research and development, international cooperation, and social connections
Free training for hundreds of citizens every year. Organize events open to thousands of people and provide Francophone documentation on improvable and replicable solutions using an alternative economic model (patent free).
Enormous. 95% of the open-access electronic documentation has been created by Anglophones and all Francophones can enrich and support these databases of shared documentation.
The group of local stakeholders and the meeting of partners in Canada and in Africa, more particularly, through InnovAfrica.
Contributions in terms of person-hours and local contributions from partners and founders. Grants from local authorities. Probably income from workshops for professionnals and rapid prototyping for private sector.
