This is a tool that is oriented for and by developing countries. Ushahidi – which means testimony in Swahili – is a platform that can send geolocalized information on any type of event like natural disasters, electoral periods, etc. from email or SMS.

Originally created to map disturbances during the 2008 Kenyan elections, this platform can also collect other kinds of information like transportation, health, education, electoral fraud(, urban risk or any other useful information.

The free and open source platform can be hosted directly on the site from or installed on an external server. It can be downloaded from
