About the project Edit

Burkina Faso is a continental African country vulnerable to disasters that are more and more frequent. In the last ten years or so, flooding has become a recurring and growing phenomenon. To help alleviate victims’ suffering particularly in terms of water, hygiene and sanitation, initiatives have been developed to make efficient water treatment units available to communities in need.

This project aims to supply drinking water to individuals in emergency situations. The unit is designed and built to get drinking water in a relatively short period of time.

In what ways is this project unique and creative? Edit

What makes this project unique is the fact that it responds to a vital need for people in distress in a relatively short period of time.

What is the social value of this project? Edit

The project instantly provides 800 litres of drinking water per hour. It can prevent water-borne diseases that are prevalent in situations of overcrowding. In this way, it improves the quality of life for people in crisis or precarious situations.

What is the potential of this project to expand and develop? Edit

This device is easy and quick to install. Maintenance is accessible and the cost is relatively low. Units can be used in emergency situations or in areas where access to drinking water is difficult.

What was the triggering factor of this project? Edit

Like many of its neighbouring countries, climate change exposes Burkina Faso to the hazards of natural disasters that come without warning. This initiative brings a quick and appropriate response where the need for drinking water is critical for those affected in any emergency situation.

What is the business model of this project? Edit

The unit is inexpensive and very efficient because it responds to the needs of many at a low cost.
