The WAD mainly targets youth in underprivileged urban and rural areas. The “All-In-One” trainings are practical workshops on telecommunication and ICT. The material covered includes manufacturing WiFi antennas, installing networks and hotspots, rural telephone systems, and using web and mobile services.
This project provides training organized by African experts in the field for African youth seeking employment. It makes use of a community of experts living in various countries in Francophone Africa including, RDC, CONGO, CAMAROON, BENIN, BURKINA FASO, COTE D'IVOIRE, GUINEA-CONAKRY, MALI, SENEGAL.
Besides the basic training module dedicated to craft manufacturing of WiFi antennas and installing wireless computer and telephone networks (VoIP), the training also includes a module on free software and one on web services useful for development work such as, WAP, SMS+, Mobile Money, etc.
-Closing up the digital gap, sharing and transferring knowledge of technology, and creating jobs and micro-enterprises in Francophone Africa telecoms.
-Projects carried out in synergy by experts living in Africa.
-Training includes a short module on project management and monitoring, and personal development workshops.
Youth who have completed the “All-In-One” training can become instructors by joining the TICAFRICA community. They are provided with coaching from experienced instructors and have access to supporting web tools including, collaborative workspaces, social networking spaces, and an e-mail list.
The TICAFRICA community was the product of brought forth by associate of the Senegalese LLC, Labomobile following the passing of the LLC director, Albéric Chimon. The goal was to take up the torch and perpetuate the innovative training and ideas developed by Albéric Chimon via a cooperative-type, socially aimed community structure.
We aim to fit within a business model whose main purpose is to aid development using new technologies. This model reconciles business and social approaches by combining economic efficiency and profitability with practical training, job creation, and human goals.
